Fall in the Hills
Fall is here! Such a beautiful crisp sunny day after all the extreme heat of this summer. We arrived to the cabin to find a few last blooms. Zinnias and cosmos to be exact. Got some more peonies in so hopefully they will bloom next year. Next is garden clean up and getting some spinach and swiss chard started in the greenhouse. #homegarden

Lavender production update!
Pinch me I’m dreaming! I’m really starting my little farm adventure! The plow arrived yesterday and Nick got it installed on the tractor and took it for an inaugural spin. Like butter! Sliced right through that thick clay soil. A lot more prep work to be done before the actual planting, but we are on our way! #homegarden

Summer in Hocking Hills is here!
One of our favorite things when we are at our Hocking Hills cabin is walking around, looking at the freshly trimmed yard and garden, with a nice beverage in hand. There is also something magical about gazing in the distance surrounded by nature's wonders. It makes me think that we need to spend more time here, exploring something different every day. Looking forward to more this summer. Gardening, stargazing, astroimaging, spending time with friends, all the wonderful things

Lavender pumpkin patch
I admit, it doesn't look like much now, but just wait. After Thanksgiving, we threw all our old pumpkins around the base of the teepee. Plus, I have a ton of seeds in the freezer just waiting to be scattered. I will use compost (more on this in my next post!) after I till the area, then spread the seeds. Then, fanning out in a circle beyond, will be the lavender. My heart goes pitter patter at the mere thought of it❤️. This part of our Hocking Hills acreage is nice and h

Lavender production in Hocking Hills
I get through the cold, dreary days of winter by dreaming of my summer garden in Hocking Hills. This year at the cabin I am planning on expanding my lavender production. Have I told you much I LOVE lavender?!? So my thought is to create a purple wave around my teepee. Sort of like a gigantic purple sundial. I threw my fall pumpkins around the base of the teepee and I also have some more pumpkin seeds I will scatter. So I hope they will use the teepee to vine up and aroun

Winter in the Hills
The drive to the cabin sure was a frosty scene! The frozen pond was perfect for some skating. Now who is going to wash my car? #homegarden

Late fall in the Hills
This past weekend, we had a lovely time in Hocking Hills, escaping the world's troubles and relaxing with family and friends. The cozy cabin, some good food and drink, a dip in the hot tub, a late fall hike into the peaceful sunset, a visit to Old Man's Cave, is sometimes all that's needed. #homegarden

Summer in the Hills
With all the hot, sunny weather after a rainy May, flowers abound in our garden. Lavender and bee balm are early June standouts! Shasta daisies getting ready to pop. And vegetables are already being harvested. Summer days are the best🌻🌺🌻 #homegarden
